Did you know there’s a stretch of Highway 8 just outside of Yuma, AZ that was adopted in memory of Jerry Garcia? I didn’t either. Thanks to Barbara and Harold Newbern, Shakedown News was turned on to this information.
This made me think about a cool contest. Send us pictures of Grateful Dead recognized in public monuments, signs, etc. that say Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead, Bob Weir or any of the Dead members, songs titles…you get the point. Must be unique and don’t go photoshopping fakes on us.
So, start clicking away. You send, I’ll post them on the site. On August 1st, Jerry’s birthday, I’ll announce the winner and you’ll get a cool Shakedown News t-shirt.
Send photos to photos (at) shakedownnews (dot) com. Please include where the photo was taken, your name and what makes your photo so unique.
Good Luck and Keep on Shakin’!
hey there’s an out-of-the-way gas station somewhere in Colorado that has famous musician’s pictures at each pump — Jerry’s pic is pump #1, Jimi Hendrix is pump #2………… i’ll try to see if i can find the pics (~);}
there aren’t many. the gdead were banned from compton terrace in tempe at one time or another and they only played two other cities but unsure of how many times. hopefully dead and co will consider skipping phoenix next time. that city has become a human feces breeding ground. Yuma is no better
