After the sudden and shocking closure of the Waterfront Theater in Marina Del Rey, So. Cal’s Grateful Dead experience, Cubensis, lost it’s regular Sunday gig, as did the fans. But alas, new light has broken through the clouds and the show goes on with a fantastic looking October 2nd and 3rd double dose of Cubensis in the LA/Long Beach areas. First at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach at it’s new location (217 Pine, Between 3rd and Broadway) with Special Guests, Joshua Tree, covering the music of U2, then a short trip up the 405 to The Central (formerly 14 Below) at 14th & Santa Monica Blvd.
With the local air still buzzing about the So. Cal Furthur shows, no doubt these Cubensis shows are just what your “head” needs. The Long Beach show begins at 8pm and Santa Monica is an early 4pm start. I haven’t been to The Central yet but I’d get there early as the small parking lot fills up quickly.
