Quactus and Big Organ Trio Holiday Party December 12 at The Central in Santa Monica

Holiday Jam Party Flier

On December 12, Quactus will join Mike Mangans’s Big Organ Trio at The Central in Santa Monica, CA to celebrate the holiday season Jamband style. Mangan will join Quactus on stage to perform “Superflitious,” a song off the new Quactus album he contributed the organ parts to in the studio. The Holiday Jam will have  full 2-hour sets from both bands.

“We are excited play with Mike and Big Organ Trio. We’ve been trying to put this together for awhile and we’re glad it finally came together. Ever since Mike played on the album, we knew this would be a great fit,” said Quactus’ drummer, Matthew McDuffee.

Quactus has been touring in support of their recently released album, A Sense of We, including multiple performances with LA electronica phenomenon, Particle. For the album, Quactus called upon Mike Mangan of Big Organ Trio and Particle’s master of the keys, Steve Molitz to add Hammond B3 and keyboard accents to two of the albums tracks.  Shortly before the release, Relix Magazine named the first track off the album, “At Ease,” as “Editors Pick of the Month” in their April-May 2010 issue.

“Whether or not it is a long jam, a short melodic run through of a memorable hook, or a rampage through an outlandish groove that won’t quit—equal parts Phish and a soaring momentum all their own—the quartet plays with a focused abandon that is quite enchanting.” -Randy Ray, Jambands.com

Big Organ Trio completed a Fall tour of the West Coast in support of their August 2010 release, Unwound, which included opening for Widespread Panic at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA in October. Mangan has become world renown for his unique way of playing the Hammond B3 Organ. Mangan’s extremely unconventional approach has drawn the attention of many of the instrument’s great luminaries, including Keith Emerson (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer), Gregg Rollie (Santana), Brian Auger (Oblivion Express), Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), and Tony Monaco (Tony Monaco Trio).

The Central is located at 1348 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, CA. Tickets are $10 and are available at http://www.centralsapc.com. Doors at 7pm, Show at 8pm.
