February 9th, 2011, the Sacramento Kings will pay tribute to the Grateful Dead at their game against the Dallas Mavericks at ARCO arena in Sacramento, CA. Joined by NBA legend and Deadhead, Bill Walton and benefiting the Rex Foundation, the Kings will offer a Grateful Dead Tribute Pack for that nights game. Check out the details below:
Basketball fans and Rex supporters, here’s an evening to remember–and for a great cause! The Sacramento Kings have kindly joined forces with NBA legend and Rex Advisory Board Member Bill Walton for a special Grateful Dead Tribute Pack offering on February 9 when the Kings meet the Dallas Mavericks at ARCO Arena in Sacramento. Fans who purchase this package get a ticket to the game, a special tie-dye T-shirt, and a pre-game session with Bill Walton; a portion of the sales proceeds go to the Rex Foundation.

The Sacramento Kings and NBA legend Bill Walton will pay tribute to the Grateful Dead on Wednesday, February 9th as the Kings take on the Dallas Mavericks at ARCO Arena. Fans who purchase the Bill Walton Grateful Dead Tribute Pack will receive a lower level ticket, a limited edition Sacramento Kings Grateful Dead tie dye T-shirt and a pregame session with Bill Walton. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rex Foundation.
Bill Walton saw his first Grateful Dead concert in 1967, and he’s been “on tour” with them ever since. He is closing in on 800 concerts which “is embarrassingly low for someone as old as I am,” he says. He had numerous opportunities to meet them but avoided it because of his shyness and insecurity about his terrible stutter, but finally connected with them in 1974. Now as a guest broadcaster for the Kings, he is looking forward to the opportunity to share his Grateful Dead experiences with Kings’ Deadhead fans. During the pregame session, Bill will share his greatest memories and exclusive photos from his days touring with the band. There will also be special in-game entertainment celebrating the work of the Grateful Dead.
The pregame session with Bill Walton will start at 6 p.m. and the night’s game tips-off at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by going to kings.com/gratefuldead or calling 888-91-KINGS.
