We all wave the “save the planet” flag high and proud. Some stop right there at waving the flag and go no further. Not funk/rock/jamband Morsoul from Boulder, CO. They’ve not only gotten on “the bus” they’re fueling it with used cooking oil and taking it across the country to promote alternative fuels and “green” living.
Touring the country in a veggie-oil powered bus playing clubs and college campuses, Morsoul is not only talking the talk, they’re showing that they can walk the walk. At schools, the band sets up “Eco-Events” to educate students about alternative energy and sustainable living. Topics include recycling, conserving electricity and water, buying local, producing less waste, and relying on less packaging.
Morsoul brings their unique bio-diesel tour bus to the Los Angeles area February 22-26 for their Morsoul Eco-Tour with FREE events at Mount Saint Mary’s College (2/22 1-3pm) and Scripps College (2/25 7-9pm). The tour will finish with a concert at The Central Social Aid & Pleasure Club in Santa Monica, CA with LA bands, Quactus and The Blind Blakes on 2/26 at 8:00 pm. Morsoul will show off their Eco-Tour Bus during the shows.
Morsoul’s version of funk rock comes with a band that cares about the environment. “We wanted to show everyone that it’s possible to make a difference, one show at a time,” commented Dan Menchey, lead singer and drummer of Morsoul.
Morsoul has set up Eco-Parties and played Earth Week Festivals at dozens of colleges including University of Wisconsin/Green Bay, UIC (Chicago), and American Univ. (DC). They are touring in support of the release of their new album Sustenance.
Tickets for the concert at The Central are $10 and available at http://www.centralsapc.com. The Central is located at 14th and Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica, CA.
