WIDESPREAD PANIC TO RELEASE DOUBLE CD WOOD ON OCTOBER 16 FEATURING MUSIC FROM FIRST-EVER FULLY ACOUSTIC WOOD TOUR
SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION 3 LP WOOD BOXED SET TO BE RELEASED SIMULTANEOUSLY
Today is the release of Wood by Widespread Panic, a double live CD featuring selections from the band’s first-ever fully acoustic 2012 Wood Tour. A special limited edition 3 LP Wood boxed will be released simultaneously. Wood will be available digitally and at retail.
The Wood boxed set includes 180 gram vinyl, a 12 page photo booklet with liner notes written by Widespread Panic lead singer John Bell and an exclusive limited edition color letterpress poster made at the legendary Hatch Show Print woodblock letterpress shop in Nashville, TN. Both LP and CD packages will include download codes for digital, MP3 versions of the music and booklet.
In January and February 2012, Widespread Panic embarked their final performances of 2012 with the 11-date, four-city “Wood Tour”. The acoustic tour ran through the Washington, DC area, Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO and ended with three special nights at the Belly-Up Tavern in Aspen, CO. Since then Panic has been on a long-overdue hiatus for the rest of 2012.
Widespread Panic fans are sure to be pleased with the announcement of Wood. The set features acoustic versions, and some new arrangements of Panic originals, including “Tall Boy”, “Ain’t Life Grand” and “Climb To Safety”. Covers of fan favorites, such as Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers To Cross” and Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” are stand out highlights. Wood also features first time renditions of John Lennon’s “The Ballad of John and Yoko” and former Animal Alan Price’s “Sell Sell” from the legendary British film O’ Lucky Man.
