The annual ARISE Music Festival returns to the beautiful Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado this summer and is thrilled to announce seven-time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley and hip-hop favorites Jurassic 5 as the first among several headliner announcements to come. The three-day, multi-genre festival takes place Friday, August 5th through Sunday, August 7th and will feature a diverse and dynamic music lineup along with performance art, natural health oriented workshops, celebrity-activist presenters, daily yoga, a children’s village and so much more.

The first son of legendary reggae superstar Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley made a name for himself on the world stage and quickly emerged as on of the genre’s leading artists. Ziggy and his siblings formed the family band Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers in 1981 after their father’s death. Their 1988 album, Conscious Party, won a Grammy Award and helped the group break through to mainstream audiences. Continuing to explore social, political and personal topics in his songs, Marley released his first solo album, Dragonfly, in 2003 and in 2006 he was awarded the Best Reggae Album of the Year Grammy for the immensely successful, Love Is My Religion.

In the ’90s and early 2000s, Jurassic 5 were, in the then-words of rapper Chali 2na, “a misfit club going against the grain.” When the West Coast was celebrating studio-crafted beats and the images of gangsta rap, Jurassic 5 brought up more spiritual, everyday themes, and did so by refashioning hip-hop’s classic funk and soul roots. A rare and exclusive Colorado performance, their appearance at ARISE Festival will feature the original six members, including turntable wiz Cut Chemist, who left Jurassic 5 to pursue a solo career in 2006.

The widely celebrated and fast growing ARISE Music Festival promises to deliver a 2016 experience that is the biggest and best yet. With over 100 featured musical performances on five stages, and with an array of art galleries, live painters, art installations, visual performers, inter-active workshops, children’s village, daily parades, films, speakers and more, it is little wonder that ARISE has been declared “a festival wonderland” and “Colorado’s Best Festival” by regional and national media alike.
