In the Fall of 2014, Widespread Panic announced that drummer and original member of the band, Todd Nance, would be taking a leave of absence for personal reasons and replaced by Derek Truck’s brother, Duane Trucks. Now, two years later and following Nance’s return to the band at the Panic en el Playa shows recently, there has been an announcement that Trucks will be the new and official drummer for the Atlanta based Southern Jamband.
Trucks has been with them since Nance’s hiatus and even recorded with them on the recent “Street Dogs” album. WSP kicks off a tour tonight in Atlanta and, according to reports from their representatives on jambase.com, “Duane will be the drummer for Widespread Panic moving forward. Todd will not be on stage this evening.”
All the best to Nance in his future endeavors and hope his issues become resolved.
