Do you KAABOO? That should be the motto of the 2016 KAABOO Music Festival being held at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, CA September 16-18. If you don’t KAABOO…you should. Finally a Southern California music festival that doesn’t cater to Hollywood hipsters, industry insiders and EDM junkies. Ladies and Gentlemen, KAABOO!
A festival for the Left Coast. Top headliners and everything else. There’s even top shelf comedy! All for a GA ticket of $250! Three days, less than $100 bucks a day!
Let’s break it down day by day…
Day 1: Jimmy Buffett!! If you’ve not been to a Buffett concert, you’re missing out. More fun than anyone should be allowed to have in one place. But wait, that’s just the headliner. Hall and Oats…Hall and freakin’ Oats! The list goes on with Fall Out Boy, Steve Aoki, Sugar Ray, Dumpstafunk, Dustbowl Revival, Gin Blossoms and Gavin Degraw…to name just a few. Get there early and take in some of the under-cards like Hermosa Beach’s own, BARLEY. They are not to be missed.
Day 2: AEROSMITH!! Steven Tyler and company on the main stage headlining day 2 at KAABOO. Most would pay $100 to see them alone but wait, there’s more. Lenny Kravitz, Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls (I fell like I’m back in college), Flo Rida, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Ludacris…oh so many.
Day 3: Just when you thought the weekend was over you get Jack Johnson, Jason Isabell, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blues Traveler, Cypress Hill and a bunch more to close out the weekend.
Did I say comedy? Sure did. CHEECH AND CHONG together on stage. Not to mention Dana Carvey, Jeff Ross and many more.
So, music…check. Comedy…check. Delicious Food and Booze…check. What about a pool party? Yep, there’s one of those on site too. All contained at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Not where the turf meets the surf anymore. Now it’s where the waves meet the grooves.
