Skull & Roses returns for its third year for a celebration of community inspired by the music of the Grateful Dead. Find your way home at the Ventura County Fairgrounds April 5 – 7, 2019. Headliners include Oteil & Friends (Oteil Burbridge, Melvin Seals, John Kadlecik, Scott Metzger, Weedie Braimah and John Kimock), Rebirth Brass Band, Melvin Seals & JGB, Cubensis, Shaky Feelin’, The Higgs, Electric Waste Band, XTra Tickets w/ Dave A-Bear, Jerry’s Middle Finger and many more, playing full shows on two stages, the Wall of Sound and PigPen Pyramid.
Music will run from Friday through Sunday with no overlapping sets. All bands bring a wide range of unique Grateful Dead interpretations.
Snuggled up to the blue Pacific Ocean in that funky bull full of memories that many thousand Dead Heads can still feel, taste, and remember, attendees can expect a veritable Grateful Dead Garden. We promise your stomach and taste buds will be happy and satiated with an array of cuisines and adult beverages.
The music of the Grateful Dead wasn’t just assorted songs – it became a full, detailed language that musicians can speak and Dead Heads can dance to. It was so fertile that it generated an entire subculture, which shows no signs of flagging. But how will that carry on into the next generation? Skull & Roses answers with the spirit of the Dead that doesn’t just endure; it thrives.
