A collection of spiritual songs, previously performed by Jerry Garcia and the Jerry Garcia Band, has been released by The Garcia Project, a band that pays tribute to the music of the Jerry Garcia Band. The Garcia Project, for almost 10 years now, has been honoring the music of Garcia with their setlist-duplicating shows.

Spirit includes Hunter-Garcia originals “Gomorrah”, “Palm Sunday” and “Sisters and Brothers.” “Magnificent Sanctuary Band” a Donny Hathaway cover, appeared on Garcia’s All Good Things album but was never performed live. “Who Was John” and “I’ll Be With Thee” were only a part of Garcia’s repertoire between 1976-1978. “Cold Jordan” was only performed acoustically by Garcia in 1970 at Binghamton and on the Festival Express. The album is chock full of rare songs performed by Garcia and if you’ve never heard them before, The Garcia Project will introduce you to them in a most excellent way.
