The day before the official 10 Year Anniversary of LA’s electronic rock pioneers, Particle, they kicked off their anniversary tour at Winston’s Beach Club in Ocean Beach, CA. With a near full house of anxious Particle fans teeming with excitement of hearing the original Particle line-up including guitarist, Charlie Hitchcock, who hadn’t played with the band for 5 years, Particle delivered as expected.
- Quactus kicked off the night
Kicking off the evening, LA progressive rock band, Quactus, warmed up the San Diego crowd with an hour long set including a closing number with Particle’s Steve Molitz on keys for “Wine,” the song Molitz contributed on the new Quactus album, “A Sense of We.” Quactus was joined for the whole set by Keith Erickson on precussion, an addition I hope is permanent.

Just about 10:30, Particle took the stage and delivered a set of Particle tunes that got the crowd going early and never ceased to keep them bouncing all night long. Particle’s high energy electronic sound laid heavy with the synthesizer sounds of Steve Molitz and the intricate guitar work of Charlie Hitchcock is something you really must see live. Filling the room with enough excited energy to power a small town, Particle rocked out the night until just before 1:30 when they bid farewell to Ocean Beach and set off on the 10 Year Anniversary Tour.
