These days the jam band world is all about collaborations and cross breeding. The “Special Guest” has become a way for bands to not only get a new edge on their music but also to open the floodgates to new fans. On September 12-14, Southern California’s top (and longest running, 27 years) Grateful Dead tribute, Cubensis, will partner with a man who is equally familiar with the music of the Dead, Dave Hebert, guitarist for JGB (formerly Jerry Garcia Band). Dave will join Cubensis on Friday night at the Golden Sails in Long Beach, Saturday afternoon at The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach and Sunday afternoon for a trio acoustic show (Nate LaPointe, Craig Marshall and Dave Hebert) at the Salvage Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. I’m told that Saturday’s show will be a “Bobby first set” followed by a “Jerry second set”.
