Fire Hydrant Fountain After SUV Runs It Over In Hermosa Beach

A Fire Hydrant Geyser on PCH

The Memorial Day fireworks came early this year in Hermosa.  At 12:30 am on Saturday May 29th in Hermosa Beach, CA, I’m sitting in my living room and all of a sudden there’s the loudest crash followed by what sounded like a waterfall outside.  Quickly my roommate and I run outside to see what the source of this seemingly catastrophic noise was.  We found it.  Right there on PCH just South of the intersection of PCH and Artesia Blvd in Hermosa Beach was a geyser shooting from the sidewalk.  Further down the road the offending Toyota SUV sat on the opposite side of the road minus one front wheel which he left behind near the geyser.  The hydrant was sitting at the corner of 24th Place and PCH, about 50 yards down the street from it’s original home.  It didn’t appear there was any serious injury as the police administered the field sobriety test to the male driver.  From the sound of the accident and the distance traveled from the hydrant, that dude must have been haulin’ butt down PCH.

Must be their way of saying, Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
